The Vina is one of the most loved stringed instrument from South India. it is used as an accompaniment for Karnatic music concerts as well as a stand alone concert instrument.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Shangary Rajendran has been learning both Vocal and Veena from her Guru Smt.Sivasakthi Sivanesan,
who is the resident teacher at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London. Shangary has completed her Vocal arangetram in 2010 in the presence of Padma Vibhushan Dr.M. Balamuralikrishna. She has also completed her Veena arangetram in 2012. She has had the privilege of learning from many distinguished artists such as Dr.M.Balamuralikrishna and Prof.TV.Gopalakrishnan to name a few. Shangary has given several performances in places such as The Royal Albert Hall, Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wembley Arena, BBC Radio 3. In December 2018 shangary had a great opportunity to tour around India as part of the Kala Darpana, an evening of Music and Dance by London Bhavan’s Young Artists, which started in Bangalore, and moved to Mysore and ended in Shimoga.
Shangary completed her degree in Psychology and is working as a Social Worker.
